About this property

Welcome to Folkestone - The Grand Burstin Hotel

Situated on Marine Parade overlooking Folkestone Harbour, The Grand Burstin Hotel offers straightforward accommodation in a large seafront building. The rooms are basic and somewhat dated, reflecting its no-frills approach, but are kept clean and functional. Some guests note the hotel could benefit from refurbishment, especially bathrooms and furniture, yet find it good value for the price.

The property features a range of facilities including a health club, indoor pool, spa, and fitness center, alongside multiple bars with live entertainment such as cabaret shows. Dining options include the on-site Harbour Restaurant, although reviews suggest the food quality is serviceable rather than exceptional. The hotel is also pet-friendly, accessible, and kid-friendly, catering to a variety of guest needs.

Its location is a strong point, being a short walk from Folkestone Central train station and close to attractions like Leas Cliff Hall. Nearby notable sites include Dover Castle, the White Cliffs of Dover, and Port Lympne Safari Park, all within reasonable travelling distance. The hotel is also convenient for travelers using the Eurotunnel or arriving via London airports.

Guest feedback reflects a mixed but generally practical view. Many appreciate the value, especially for short stays or stopovers, admiring the friendly and accommodating staff and the social atmosphere in the bars. However, expectations should be realistic regarding room decor and amenities, as it does not provide luxury or modern comforts.

Staff are fantastic and very accommodating they happily upgraded us to a better room whe the power tripped due to a kettle in a room next door. Ignore the bad reviews you get what you pay for and more! Hotel has a few bars and bingo on most evenings. The pool is lovely and well worth a visit. Very reasonably priced at £4 for adults and £3 for children. The breakfast is amazing and the Sunday roast at £12.50 for 3 courses and eat as much as you like is just incredible. The hotel views are spectacular we cant wait to return.

This Hotel is in a prime location by the Harbour in Folkestone! It's basic & a bit dated, but it's clean & perfectly acceptable for the price! I had breakfast too as it was included in the price of the room! I was pleasantly surprised! Good choice, food was hot, good variety. I stay here frequently when visiting my Granddaughter and I have never had cause to complain.

For how much we paid at last minute. Was expecting great. The room was clean, clean sheets. It's very tired hotel could do with refresh, bathroom could do with things being moved round to make more room to move. I would stay again

This is a budget hotel, so don’t expect 5* rooms or food. If you have realistic expectations then this places is great, with a location right on the seafront. The rooms are tired, (but show me hotels where they aren’t) the food was of a reasonable standard and I didn’t find any reason to grumble about it. For the price we paid for a three night stay with an 80’s tribute show, was incredibly cheap! All staff that I met were very helpful.

Stopped over at this hotel for 1 night as close to the Eurotunnel. Arrived on a Wednesday evening, seamless check in, and headed to the bar. Wow! Live Entertainment on a Wednesday evening, it was fantastic. A one man band. He looked like Ned Flanders from the Simpsons, but don't be fooled, he turned out to be a quality pub singer, shoo be dooby doo, who took loads of requests, he knew everything ! The local ladies were on form, (assuming they were locals) were up dancing, drinking, and having a whale of a time. One was particularly drunk and looked more like she was breakdancing. The Guinness wasn't up to much, had a bit of a funny taste. This was proven by a swift run to the toilet in the early hours of the morning. Didn't have any food, although I overheard one diner saying the chicken nuggets and chips were michelin star quality at Wetherspoons prices. Slept well, was up and out before the sun came up. All in all a great cheap stopover place if you want save a few quid.

The Grand Burtstin is an older hotel, Great location, especially if your traveling to France and Folkestone is self is worth at least 2 days to explore. The hotel is a bit tired, and they do charge for parking and the amount of towels doesn't = guest, but for the price it's good value for money! I've been 3 times and honestly I've been impressed for the cost, similar to a wetherspoons, great value, decent quality. Don't book if your after a long or more luxury stay. But for the humble amongst us, worth a booking!

Just stayed two nights at this hotel. Yes furniture very dated, but everywhere was clean, new carpets most places. Decorating ongoing. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was excellent. For a two star rated hotel I thought it was very good.and I'm pretty fussy Plenty towels, shower gel, hairdryer and even iron and ironing board in room .

Myself & friends avoided this hotel for years due to its reputation. Last year we gave in and the worst part of our stay was the lifts breaking down & not adequate for the number of rooms/guests. It’s basic, but clean. Food acceptable for the price. However, I have to say that on our return this year, we again had a basic but clean room, the beds were comfortable and again the food was acceptable. Some choices were better than others. However, I do have to give praise where it’s due and all the staff were friendly and helpful. Three members of staff in particular stood out from the crowd: 1) a gentleman whose name I didn’t note- on reception when we arrived and patiently rearranged rooms to suit us. He also worked the bar in the lounge, served food there and was pleasant and very helpful. 2) Martin in the restaurant who went out of his way to sort a friends dietary requirements, even to the point of serving it to the table for her. He was sympathetic to her needs and was very quick witted and entertaining, whilst not straying from his duties. We never met the chef, but he also played a very large part in organising/cooking something my friend could eat. 3) Marga - cleared tables in the restaurant with a cheery smile and chatting as she did so. A lovely lady who took the time to make sure we were enjoying our stay. All staff showed a marked improvement on last year, but these three/four really made the trip a pleasure.
